A division of Pure Mountain Adventure

Pure Mountain Medic instructors are Canadian Red Cross trained with hands on experience in first aid and cpr. These classes teach vital skills that will benefit every student. We use a variety of different learning techniques to facilitate the learning process which include hands on work, visual aids and group work. We strive to provide the most informative classes and the most current information available to all students.

Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Certification

Prerequisite: None

Duration: 16 Hours - spread over 2 days

Cost: $125.00

Certification Earned

You will receive a Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR level C and AED certification valid for 3 years with successful completion and mandatory attendance.

Course Description

Standard First Aid is a course that demonstrates how to initiate emergency care. This course will prepare you for emergency situations, treatment & prevention of injury. This course covers airway, breathing and cardiovascular emergencies; bleeding; burns; musculoskeletal injuries; soft tissue injuries; head and spinal injuries; poisoning; heat and cold emergencies; bandaging and splinting; moving and transportation; medical conditions such as diabetic crises and epileptic seizures and secondary survey. CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) and AED are included in this course.

Recertification - Standard First Aid with CPR/AED

Prerequisite: A current Standard First Aid certification

Duration: 8 Hours - 1 day

Cost: $85.00

Certification Earned

You will receive a Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR level C and AED certification valid for 3 years with successful completion and mandatory attendance.

Course Description

This is a recertification course of Standard First Aid & CPR level C designed for students that have already taken the above course and need to recertify. See Standard First Aid description.

CPR Level C with AED Certification

Prerequisite: None

Duration: 6.5 Hours - 1 day

Cost: $69.00

You will receive a Canadian Red Cross CPR level C and AED certification valid for 3 years with successful completion and mandatory attendance.

Course Description

This course caters to families, parents, general public, professional rescuers, (i.e. Police, Firefighters, First Responders, Workplace First Aid Teams, and Lifeguards). This course includes, Adult/Child/Baby CPR (one rescuer), Adult/ Child/ Baby choking, Barrier device/pocket masks, AED where legislation permits.

Health Care Provider CPR with AED

Prerequisite:

Individuals working or will be working as health care providers: (physicians, nurse, EMR, EMT, paramedics and Allied Healthcare Providers-RT, OT, PT.)

Duration: 8 Hours - 1 day

Cost: $75.00

Certification Earned

You will receive a CPR Level Healthcare Provider certification with successful completion and mandatory attendance.

Course Description

This course is designed for Health Care Providers or candidates going into the following professions: Physician, nurses, EMR's, EMT's, Paramedics and Allied Health Care Providers - RT, OT's and PT's. This course includes adult/child/baby CPR, choking, barrier devices, bag valve mask, AED and rescue breathing.

Wilderness First Aid

Prerequisite:

Participants should be in good health and physical condition. Part of the course is taught in an outdoor setting and requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training.

Duration: 20 Hours

Cost: $200.00

Certification Earned

You will receive a 3-year certification in Wilderness & Remote First Aid, CPR level C, AED certification, and valuable skills for 24 hour outdoor survival with successful completion and mandatory attendance.

Course Description

Our basic level of Wilderness & Remote First Aid & CPR is for employees who work in isolated or wilderness settings and need to response to emergencies when advanced care is not immediately available. The course covers material in Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR, special material on techniques for wilderness and remote areas and strategies to provide extended care for up to 24 hours.
Content included will be preparation and planning, your health, airway emergencies, breathing and circulation emergencies, first aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest, wound care, bone, muscle, and joint injuries, head and spine injuries, environmental situations, poisons, cold and heat- related emergencies, medical emergencies, evacuation and transportation, extended care and written exam.

Advance Wilderness First Aid

Prerequisite:

Participants must be at least 16 years of age and in good health and physical condition. Part of the course is taught in an outdoor setting and requires greater physical activity and endurance than typical first aid training.

Duration: 40 Hours

Cost: $350.00

Certification Earned

You will receive a 3-year certification in Advance Wilderness & Remote First Aid, CPR level C, AED certification, and valuable skills for 72 hour outdoor survival with successful completion and mandatory attendance.

Course Description

Comprehensive First Aid & CPR techniques for those who need a higher level of training to work and respond to emergencies in isolated or wilderness settings. Training is suitable for those who supervise or act as guides for groups of people. The course covers material in Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR plus advanced procedures and strategies to provide extended care for more than 24 hours.
Content included will be preparation and planning, your health, what is the P.L.A.N, airway emergencies, breathing and circulation emergencies, first aid for respiratory and cardiac arrest, wound care, bone, muscle, and joint injuries, head and spine injuries, environmental situations, poisons, cold and heat-related emergencies, medical emergencies, evacuation and transportation, manual traction and realigning fractures, helmet removal, extended care and written exam.
